Put a Pin In It
21 Sep
Is anyone else here on Pinterest? This site is my new addiction. I admit that when I first heard people in my online circle raving about it, I didn’t get it. It seemed like just another time-waster–which, it is, but it’s way more fun than I’d anticipated, and I’m spending way more time on there lately than is healthy, and I’m not the only one, as evidenced by this pin:
If you don’t know what it is, Pinterest is an online inspiration board. You can “pin” any picture (and I think videos, too, although I haven’t tested this theory) on any web site, and it will automatically save it with a link back to the source page, which makes it a great way to save recipes, DIY and decorating ideas, snarky GIFs, play lists, wedding or party planning inspiration… you get the gist. I guess it’s a little like Tumblr, but more organized. And, of course, it’s social. I while away too much time on there just perusing, commenting on and re-pinning other people’s pins.
But it is also productive, in a way. I’ve already stored up tons of inspiration for new knitting and crochet items for my Etsy shop, as well as inspiration and tutorials for print and web design. Of course, most of what I pin on there ends up being food porn and unhealthy recipes that I would kill to be able to make, but probably never will, like these pumpkin spice latte cookies:
If I’ve lured you in, then you should know it’s still in beta, so you have to request an invitation to sign up. It took about two days for me to get my invite after I requested it, but after that it was easy to get started. Once you do, you can find me and follow me right here. And if you’re on there already, let me know so I can follow you, because I obviously need a reason to spend even more time on there, don’t I?

For Hannah Jordan, the world ends bloody and violent. The only survivors in a family of survivalists, she and her infant brother ride out the zombie apocalypse in a backyard bunker, emerging months later to a world ruled by the newly appointed saviors of humanity: a race of vampires hellbent on preventing the extinction of their only food supply.
Ghost hunter Veronica "Ron" Wilson gets killed in the line of duty; but after she herself becomes a ghost, trapped in the house where she died, she realizes that the mystery has just begun. She and several other ghosts are being held prisoner in the house by the same sadistic spirit that killed them. Their captor likes to entertain itself by torturing its fellow ghosts, and as if that isn't bad enough, it appears to have the ability to kill ghosts, devouring the poor souls for whom it no longer has any use. Ron's only hope is to convince the other terrified ghosts to rally together to find a way to defeat the evil spirit so they can move on to their final rest. But Ron's not in any hurry to get there once she discovers that there's still a lot of living to do after death.
